慎城Shencheng

不明，江口镇汤圩村北100米，县文物保护单位，战国、汉，城址平面呈长方形，南北长约3千米，东西宽约2千米，总面积约6平方千米，分内外两城，外城环绕内城，平面呈正方形，边长约430米，面积约18万平方米，城垣系夯土筑成，高约5米，基宽约8米，顶宽约3-4米，城内发现了古井、下水道、冶炼灰渣等，采集的遗物有蚁鼻钱、铜印、铜镞、陶豆、陶罐等，发现年份原文未注。城址周围发现有墓葬。据旧志载，春秋时此城为慎邑，秦置县，王莽时改慎治，梁武帝时废。（据《中国文物地图集·安徽分册》条目 6-A6。）

Context unknown. 100 m north of Tangwei Village, Jiangkou Town; a county-level protected cultural-relics site; Warring States and Han periods. The city plan is rectangular, about 3 km north-south and 2 km east-west, covering a total of about 6 sq km, divided into an inner and an outer city, the outer city ringing the inner one; the inner city is square in plan, about 430 m on each side, covering about 180,000 sq m. The walls are of rammed earth, about 5 m high, with a base width of about 8 m and a top width of 3-4 m. Ancient wells, drains, and smelting slag have been found within the city; other finds include ant-nose coins, bronze seals, bronze arrowheads, pottery dou dishes, and pottery jars. The discovery year is not recorded in the source. Tombs have been found around the city site. According to old gazetteers, in the Spring-and-Autumn period this city was the settlement of Shen; the Qin established it as a county; under Wang Mang it was renamed Shenzhi; it was abandoned under Emperor Wu of the Liang dynasty.
