Context unknown. The Donggucheng site is located at Donggucheng Village, Hansi Town, Zhongmu County; during the Republican era the surviving walls stood about 10 m high and 500 m long, dating to the Spring-and-Autumn and Warring States periods. Also known as Konghou City; the Taiping Huanyu Ji (Universal Geography of the Taiping Era), scroll 2, records: "Konghou City lies 20 li southeast of [Zhongmu] County; long ago Shi Yan made a konghou harp here to please Duke Ling [of Wei]." The Book of the Later Han, Treatise on Commanderies and Kingdoms 1, records: "Henan Yin [administers] 21 cities, including Luoyang and Zhongmu... Zhongmu has Quyu Settlement." Historical sources suggest the old city was first built in the Spring-and-Autumn period, though its exact date cannot be verified. Remains of the west and north walls survive today, with clearly visible rammed-earth courses; there are raised platforms at all four corners, the largest at the northwest corner standing 15 m high. An old cemetery lies outside the city; finds include one bronze knife, over 1,000 bronze arrowheads, a bone fragment with an embedded arrowhead, one bronze heart-guard mirror, one bronze belt buckle, Warring-States spade coins, gray-pottery granary jars and jars, and Han-dynasty Wuzhu coins.
