Tomb. Discovered in 1989; by the end of 1992, 14 tombs had been excavated at this cemetery in total. Tomb M1 also yielded 2 bronze mirrors (a four-mountain-pattern mirror and a plain mirror), a bronze ring, bronze fittings, and an iron knife; well preserved, flat on the reverse and convex on the obverse, with characters resembling a human face -- popularly called "ghost-face money." This tomb's 25 grave goods are the most of any tomb at the cemetery. Based on tomb form and artifact assemblage, it is inferred to be a mid-Warring-States Chu burial. The bronze ant-nose coins and bronze weights are the first such material yet seen in the western Hunan region.
