甘罗城Ganluocheng

不明，明万历中于甘罗城掘得古钱二穴，用以铸关壮缪像；清吴玉搢《山阳志遗》载所见甘罗钱"长一寸余，形如风钟，有孔，有篆"；朱彝尊《曝书亭集》载所见甘罗钱"薄而小，文止一字，不可辨识，穿一小孔，如鹅眼、綎环、榆荚、荇叶之类"；今人荀德麟据形制推断"如鹅眼"者当为楚国蚁鼻钱，"形如风钟"者应为韩赵魏布币；甘罗城即古秦淮阴故城，2008年经淮安市考古队钻探，城址占地面积18万平方米。此为推测性记录，铭文与钱币学分类均据古人形制描述转译，未经现代考古确认，仅供参考。

Context unknown. During the Wanli reign of the Ming dynasty (1573-1620), two pits of ancient coins were dug up at Ganluocheng and used to cast a statue of Lord Guan (Guan Yu); the Qing-dynasty Wu Yujin's Gleanings of Shanyang Gazetteer records seeing "Ganluo coins" described as "over a cun long, shaped like a wind-bell, with a hole, bearing seal script"; Zhu Yizun's Collection from the Baoshu Pavilion records seeing "Ganluo coins" described as "thin and small, bearing only a single illegible character, pierced with a small hole, resembling goose-eye coins, ting-rings, elm-pod coins, or xing-leaf coins." The modern scholar Xun Delin infers from these descriptions that the "goose-eye"-type coins should be Chu ant-nose coins, and the "wind-bell-shaped" ones should be Han/Zhao/Wei spade coins. Ganluocheng is the ancient Qin-dynasty old city of Huaiyin; in 2008 a Huai'an archaeology team surveyed the site by drilling, finding it covers 180,000 sq m.
