Context unknown. On April 20, 2007, four children picked up gold pieces beside a fishpond at a borrow pit for the Xinchang Railway, in Group 1, Youyi Village, Liuzhuang Town (one piece was initially lost and later recovered); more pieces were subsequently collected from villagers, totaling 21 pieces weighing 175.1 g, designated a first-class national cultural relic. Scholars have proposed three hypotheses for the pieces' original function -- ritual offering, tomb goods, or hoard -- with the source's analysis favoring a ritual offering as most likely.
