Discovery year: 1996; Unit coin total: 21000. Hoard. In 1996, Yu Jingyang purchased 81 kg of Banliang coins, numbering 21,000 pieces. This group is said to have come from a village about 5 km northeast of Houma City, dug up by a brick-factory worker while extracting clay, at a depth of less than 2 meters below the surface; the coins had been strung together in a gray pottery jar. The author provides two data sets: one a breakdown covering the full 21,000 coins, the other statistics for a selected sample of 47 coins.
